A selection of 54 players have been named in Queensland’s 19U and 17U squads following the conclusion of the Nissan State Titles on Tuesday.
The Carina League Club Tigers dominate the 17U squad with six players selected from their 16U championship-winning team.
Beaten finalists the ACU Brisbane North Cougars have four representatives, as do the USC Thunder.
The USQ Jets, Bond University Bull Sharks and North Mendi Rays have three players each with the Gold Coast Titans, Brisbane South Wildcats and Darling Down Panthers also represented.
The Jets and Thunder have five players each in the 19U squad with four athletes named from the 18U-winning Titans team selected including final MVP Talitah Faifai.
The Cougars have four players in the 19U selection which also includes three Wildcats, two from the Capricorn Claws and a single player each from Bond, the Rays, the Panthers and Tigers.
The squads, consisting of 27 athletes each, will trial throughout the month of November before a final cohort of 16 players is chosen in both age groups in December.
Those squads will then complete a final selection process in January where the final team and training partners are chosen for next year’s Netball Australia National Championships.
“I and the other selectors were thrilled to see the excellent standard of talent on display throughout the Nissan State Titles,” Netball Queensland Head of Elite Netball Roselee Jencke said.
“We congratulate all those selected in the 17 and Under and 19 and Under Queensland State squads and look forward to seeing them continue their development in the coming months before we finalise our selections next year’s Netball Australia Underage National Championships.”
