Somerset College overcame last year’s Cup final defeat to take out the title this year, defeating King’s Christian College in a hard-fought final with Queensland 19 and Under representative Rio Burns named MVP following the win.
Last year’s Cup title winners St Peter’s Lutheran College finished third, edging out Moreton Bay College in an overtime thriller to secure bronze.
The Boys Open competition – which included four more teams than last year - produced one of the stories of the tournament, with wildcard entrants Marsden State High School going all the way to lift the trophy, defeating St James College in the final. Chanel College took third place after another overtime battle.
Marsden’s win was a turnaround for the school after they had been defeated by St James in the preliminary rounds, making the most of their wildcard entry to have the last laugh in the Finals Series with Marsden’s Drayson Fainu winning the Boys MVP honour.
King’s Christian College walked home with the title in the Shield division, defeating St James in the final with King’s Summer Treece taking out the MVP gong.
Gold Coast-based Palm Beach Currumbin State High School finished third in the Shield Division.
Queensland netball icon and competition namesake Vicki Wilson as well as Queensland Firebirds stars Tippah Dwan and Emily Moore on hand to present medals.
Across the two days of finals action, 55 dedicated umpires officiated, supported by Netball Queensland Umpire Coaches Marc Henning, Caroline Stevens, Rachel Thomas, Stewart Ting and Nicola Stevens. Congratulations to Jasmine Maher from Lockyer Valley for achieving her National B Badge during the event.

- Cup: Tahlia Barnes, Taya Kirk, Reserve Hannah Moran
- Shield: Erin Plowman, Risha Dewan, Reserve Sofia Varrichio

The University of Queensland, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its partnership with Netball Queensland and the Firebirds, promoted its extended Firebirds Scholarship offering with 10 of the $5000 scholarships for Year 12 students with a passion for netball available to celebrate the decade-long partnership.
HART Sport, Fulton Hogan, Mizuno and Tribal Sport were also on-site throughout, with Player of the Match awards supported by Baskin-Robbins.
