The Senior State Age event attracts thousands of athletes aged 15-18 from across the state in a celebration of netball excellence that not only fosters skill development but embodies the spirit of camaraderie within the netball community, bringing together emerging talent from every corner of the state.
Toowoomba's selection as host comes at an ideal time, with the association having recently completed a $2m major redevelopment of its courts partially funded via a $1.65m grant as part of the Australian Government's Play Our Way program. These upgraded facilities will provide first-class playing conditions for participants and an enhanced experience for spectators.
Netball Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kate Davies congratulated Toowoomba on their successful bid and expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event.
"We are absolutely thrilled to congratulate Toowoomba Netball Association on being named host of the 2027 Senior State Age," Davies said.
"Their newly upgraded facilities will provide an outstanding venue and we're looking forward to teams from across the state visiting Toowoomba to take part in what promises to be an exceptional event."
Toowoomba Netball Association President Adam Marjoribanks welcomed the announcement, highlighting its significance for the local community.
"It has been over 40 years since Toowoomba last hosted a State Age carnival,” Marjoribanks said.
“This event will provide a fantastic opportunity to highlight our newly upgraded facilities and our players will enjoy the benefits of playing on their home courts whilst sleeping in their own beds and benefiting from the support of friends and family.
"For the community, the economic benefits of hosting an event this large will be greatly welcomed by the region's businesses and provides an opportunity to showcase the Toowoomba Region."
The 2027 Senior State Age will be held in Toowoomba from April 3 to 6.
