Held on Saturday and Sunday, 47 teams from 10 regional associations will take part in the event featuring young athletes aged 12 to 18.
A highlight of the tournament is the participation of the Tableland Netball Association, marking their first competitive appearance since in an NQ event since at least 2008. Their involvement underscores the growing enthusiasm and engagement in netball across regional Queensland.
This year’s Country Carnival also features a mixed division, a significant step in promoting inclusivity within the sport. This category aims to provide more opportunities for male players to participate in netball.
Several associations are taking part in the Country Carnival as their sole event of the year, highlighting the tournament’s importance in providing accessible competition for all.
Herbert River, Sarina and District and Whitsunday Netball Associations are among those seizing this unique opportunity to compete without the extensive commitments of larger state competitions.
In addition to the on-court action, NQ partner HART Sport will be present, adding an extra layer of excitement and engagement for attendees. Their activation at the event will offer participants and spectators alike the chance to experience the latest in sports equipment and merchandise.
Glenn Dennis, NQ General Manager - Netball, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event.
“We are looking forward to an exciting Country Carnival in Townsville,” Dennis said.
“This tournament is a testament to our commitment to providing additional opportunities for our regional associations. It’s a fantastic way to bring our netball community together and celebrate the sport we all love.”
