The Bull Sharks big weekend began with a tough match against the second-placed Kedron Wavell Cougars where Kaylin van Greunen and Kirra Tappenden shone in the goal circle as Bond overcame a halftime two-goal deficit to snatch a 61-58 victory at Nissan Arena on Saturday.
Back at Nissan Arena on Sunday with both teams sporting eye-catching First Nations dresses, the Bull Sharks were too strong for the Brisbane South Wildcats as they claimed a 71-58 victory.
Van Greunen notched 50 goals for the Bull Sharks who move up to third after their dual triumphs.
The table-topping Gold Coast Titans made a great start to the weekend with a 61-52 win over the Carina Leagues Club Tigers but the Titans' 100 per cent start to the season came to halt on Sunday as the Sunshine Coast Thunder claimed a 55-46 win.
The Thunder had suffered an agonising one-point loss to the TAE Aerospace Jets on Saturday, missing three late chances to snatch the win after Elsa Sif Sandholt had hit a late two-pointer to put the Jets ahead by one.
The Jets couldn't make it two-from-two for the weekend however when the Cougars bounced back from their loss to the Bull Sharks to secure a 59-53 win in Sunday's action.
Moreton Bay City Pulse's wait for an inaugural HPNL Sapphire division victory continues after losing 78-47 to the Wildcats and falling agonisingly short against the Tigers on Sunday, defeated 56-55 with a late two-point attempt by Talitah Faifai missing and denying the Pulse their breakthrough win.
