Netball Queensland would like to congratulate Rebecca Stower (Darling Downs Panthers) and Camille Rieck (Jets Netball) for obtaining their Elite Coaching Accreditation and Meegan Snell (Carina Leagues Club Tigers) for achieving her Advanced Coaching Accreditation.
Coaches who continue on their learning journey complete a number of tasks and assessments to achieve success in higher levels of accreditation.
The Advanced coaching accreditation is the fourth level within the framework and the Elite coaching accreditation is the fifth level, with only High Performance above this.
Netball Queensland Coach Development Officer Karen Topp said both the Advanced and Elite accreditation requires coaches to attend face-to-face workshops, complete workbook assignments, work with mentor coaches and undertake practical coaching assessments.
“It’s also important that coaches achieving this level of accreditation implement these lessons into the work they do with their players and other coaching staff,” she said. “Additionally the coaches then share their knowledge and give back to the community by being actively involved in player clinics and workshops throughout the season.”
Topp said Netball Queensland was committed to creating a positive environment that encouraged coaches to continually improve and upgrade their skills.
“This leads to better experiences for players and, ultimately, athletes will remain in the sport longer if they have a good experience with a coach. Everyone remembers that coach who really invested in them and shaped their sporting experience. The quality of the coach can make or break the entire sport experience for an athlete and we are thrilled to see so many coaches working to improve their skills and upgrade their qualifications,” she said.
