Coddington, who has served on the Netball Queensland board since 2023 and was elected Chair for the third time following the 2025 Annual General Meeting, has extensive leadership and governance experience. Her career includes more than two decades at Tourism and Events Queensland, where she served as Chief Executive Officer. Her strategic insight and commercial acumen have played an important role in strengthening the organisation’s governance and long-term direction.
Netball Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kate Davies paid tribute to Carter’s contribution and welcomed the board’s continuing and new members.
“On behalf of Netball Queensland, I sincerely thank David Carter for his significant contribution over many years,” Davies said.
“David has been a strong advocate for the sport and his experience and commitment have helped guide the organisation through important periods of growth and change, and through the difficult and disruptive time of the global COVID pandemic.
“We are delighted to confirm Leanne’s reappointment to the board. Her leadership, strategic thinking and deep understanding of major events and stakeholder engagement continue to be invaluable as we progress our Go For Growth strategy and work to strengthen netball across Queensland.
“We also warmly welcome Damien Walker to the Netball Queensland board. Damien brings an outstanding depth of public sector leadership and a strong understanding of policy, strategy and service delivery. His experience in governance of elite sporting teams will also add considerable value as we continue to strive for Firebirds on-court success, and expand netball’s reach and impact across communities throughout the state.”
Walker has held senior leadership roles across the Queensland public service, with a career spanning more than two decades. His experience includes leading complex organisations, driving whole-of-government priorities and supporting initiatives that deliver economic, social and community outcomes for Queenslanders.
