An important message to the Queensland netball community and members and fans of the Queensland Firebirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus)
The highest priority of Netball Queensland, the Queensland Firebirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning is the health and wellbeing of its athletes, staff, the netball community, members, fans and all other stakeholders. As a result of the ongoing response to COVID-19 or coronavirus, all three organisations will be making changes to their fan engagement activities.
This may involve the postponement or cancellation of some activities and events or additional precautionary measures to reduce the risk of the spread of the virus. This may include no physical contact with athletes (eg, handshakes, hugging, kissing, taking selfies, autographs, etc), and a focus on good personal hygiene from all. Any person who is concerned about their health or is feeling unwell, should not attend such events.
We will keep you informed of the status of scheduled events. As information on the virus continues to evolve each day, it is possible that some events may need to be cancelled/postponed at short notice. We apologise in advance for the inconvenience, however the health and wellbeing of our players, staff, and the wider community must take priority.
All three organisations continue to monitor the situation carefully and take advice daily from Netball Australia, each organisation’s medical staff, government representatives, venue managers and many others.
We appreciate the ongoing support and understanding from you all during this challenging time.
