This year has certainly been unlike any other due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Queensland and New South Wales border remained shut to limit the possibility of community transmission throughout the pandemic, the ripple effects of the closure were certainly felt by the Tweed Netball Association (TNA).
An affiliate of Netball Queensland, TNA were unable attend any Queensland based events in 2020 due to their location. This restriction was especially difficult for those TNA players, coaches, umpires, and officials who missed out on last month’s Nissan State Age, the largest annual event on the Netball Queensland Calendar.
A valued partner of both Netball Australia and Netball Queensland, HCF have a local branch in Tweed Heads and could therefore empathise with the unfortunate and challenging circumstances faced by TNA.
With the boarder restrictions easing between Queensland and New South Wales this month and in a gesture true to their ‘uncommon care’ ethos, HCF gave up their own opportunity to attend the recent Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final to allow the president from Tweed Netball to attend with her guests.
HCF are strong advocates for supporting the ‘team behind the team,’ whether that be the coach, the orange cutter, or team manager, and sacrificing their seats at the Grand Final was just reward for the hard work and dedication of the ‘team behind the team’ at Tweed Netball Association.
We thank HCF for their generosity and look forward to seeing how the relationship between HCF Tweed and Tweed Netball Association continues to prosper into 2021.
