Competition netball returned to courts across Queensland over the weekend, following the State Government’s fast tracking of Stage 3 restrictions last week.
For netball, Stage 3 restrictions mean no cap on participant numbers and the ability for normal contact while training and playing on court. The sole requirement is for those spectators off court to maintain the required social distancing of one person per four square metres.
As players, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators return to the courts in numbers, the focus for Associations and Clubs remains the wellbeing of their respective communities and ensuring all appropriate measures are in place to ensure their health and safety.
Just last month Netball Queensland announced a new partnership with Soul Safe™ and its affiliate Martin Brothers to ensure a safe return to the courts, including the provision of hygiene and sanitisation packs for Associations and Clubs. To date, almost 700 products have been ordered by Clubs and Associations across Queensland.
Netball Queensland’s General Manager – Delivery Network, Matthew Battams, said “it’s encouraging to see the netball community embrace the new environment.”
“As exciting as it is to see competition netball returning across Queensland, it’s even more pleasing that our Clubs and Associations have worked tirelessly to safeguard their venues with the help of Martin Brothers, and ensure the health and safety of their communities in the process,” Battams said.
“The wellbeing of our members and the broader netball community will always be our priority and in this new COVID environment that focus is as important as ever.”
Martin Brothers CEO, Jack Martin, said it was encouraging to see so many proactive, safety conscious Associations and Clubs take action.
“It’s great so many associations and clubs have already purchased hygiene and sanitisation products from Martin Brothers,” Martin said.
“It’s now more important than ever to ensure clubs and associations have the correct hygiene and sanitisation products to ensure the health and safety of their respective netball communities.”
“We encourage clubs and associations who have yet to purchase from Martin Brothers to do so quickly – our cost effective and high-quality products are another layer of safety to protect the health of your players, spectators and your community.”
