The annual competitions are a celebration of netball excellence for players aged 12-14 (Junior State Age) and 15-18 (Senior State Age) and not only foster skill development but also embody the spirit of camaraderie within the netball community.
The announcement is an exciting one for north Queensland with thousands of players aged 15-18 set to descend on Townsville for Senior State Age, offering an exciting adventure for associations from the state’s south-east as well as providing the chance for regional associations to participate closer to home.
“We have a proud history of successfully delivering Netball Queensland events, having hosted the 2023 Junior State Age and the Country Carnival for the past two years,” Townsville City Netball Association President Marg Cedar said.
“We are ready once again to highlight our outstanding facilities and the great spirit of our dedicated volunteers.
“Hosting a state event locally also gives more of our own players the opportunity to participate on home soil, with family and friends right there to support them. It’s a fantastic chance for our southern associations and visitors to experience the unique hospitality of the north and everything that Townsville has to offer.”
For Hinterland, hosting the Junior State Age event will be an exciting way to celebrate the club’s upgraded facilities with their Firth Park facilities at Mudgeeraba undergoing a significant revamp.
“Hinterland is super excited to be hosting Junior State Age in 2026 and it will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the multi-million dollar upgrade of our courts due for completion by November this year,” HDNA President Megan Elliott said.
“HDNA will be the lucky recipients of 24 brand new courts all under lighting with specific player seating and shade, along with numerous shaded spectator seating, and what better way is there to celebrate and play on the new courts than with our wider netball community?
“We look forward to welcoming everyone in 2026.”
