This will be the first NQ board meeting outside south-east Queensland, signifying a significant milestone for the organisation, with members of the board set to engage with the local and surrounding netball communities in north Queensland throughout the weekend.
NQ board members will meet with NQ Regional Manager Deb Eastlake and Community Development Officers from Townsville, Cairns, and Mt Isa before Saturday’s board meeting.
On Saturday evening key stakeholders and members of the local and surrounding netball community will join the NQ board at a stakeholder function and dinner, creating connections in an environment conducive to sharing ideas and fostering growth.
The board will also enjoy community netball before their departure by attending the Townsville City Netball Association’s Future Diamonds Carnival on Sunday.
That event is the second of two major netballing competitions over the weekend with an invitational representative carnival being held for 12 to 14 year-old players at the Townsville City Netball Association courts on Saturday afternoon.
Queensland Firebird and Australian Diamonds superstar Gretel Bueta will attend both events, adding an extra layer of excitement and inspiration for the young athletes as they get a chance to meet one of world netball’s most talented and celebrated players.
Netball Queensland CEO Kate Davies is excited about the benefits of this trip for the NQ board, management and the north Queensland netball community at large.
"We are thrilled to venture outside Brisbane to engage with the north Queensland netball community,” Davies said.
“This historic board meeting presents an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate and connect with local stakeholders and promote the growth of netball in this vibrant region.
“We look forward to building meaningful relationships and leaving a lasting impact on the netball community in Townsville and beyond."
Netball Queensland's visit to Townsville signifies the organisation's commitment to fostering growth and strengthening relationships across the length and breadth of the state.
