This comprehensive 10-year plan is designed to support the sustainable growth of netball across Queensland, ensuring facilities remain welcoming, inclusive, and conducive to the success of all involved in the sport.
A result of extensive consultation with our member associations and state and local government partners, the NQIS builds on the foundation of the previous State-wide Facilities Strategy 2018-2025, incorporating updated facility audit data, analysis of participation and population projections and emerging trends in netball participation.
This strategic framework focuses on three core areas: Community Netball, Elite & Pathways, and Innovation & Partnerships.
One of the key developments within the NQIS is the introduction of the Netball Facility Provision Model, which uses participation and population benchmarks to assess the provision of courts and demand indicators at local, regional, and state levels.
Additionally, the strategy identifies nine key development opportunities critical to the future of netball in Queensland, including court surface type, facility condition, and climate resilience.
“We sincerely thank our members, as well as state and local government partners, for their invaluable input in shaping this strategy,” NQ Chief Executive Officer Kate Davies said.
“The NQIS outlines our commitment to a targeted and balanced approach to facility development, ensuring that investments align with the shared priorities of all stakeholders and represent value for money.
“As netball continues to grow and evolve, we are excited to work alongside our associations, clubs, and facility providers to implement this strategy and foster greater diversity of participation across Queensland.”
