The group comprises Neville Hoehne as Chair along with Deborah Farrell, Courtney Garrett-Jacky, Keziah Alimpulos, Jamie Anderson, Brendon Cook and Sonya Payard-Lampton.
With NQ making transitioning diversity, equity and inclusion from a function to a practice a strategic priority, the FNAG will spearhead efforts towards advancing the organisation's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
“As Chair of Netball Queensland's FNAG, I'm honoured to lead alongside this deadly mob of individuals,” Hoehne said.
“Our goal is big – to ensure NQ is all about diversity, fairness, and inclusion of everyone. We're pumped to push ahead with our Reconciliation Action Plan, knowing it's super important for us and our community."
Meeting bi-monthly, the FNAG comprises distinguished individuals tasked with providing invaluable advice and expertise to NQ's leadership and management.
Key responsibilities entrusted to the FNAG include fortifying relationships with First Nations stakeholders in netball across Queensland, cultivating organisational capacity to drive cultural change, and championing culturally safe environments within associations, clubs, and high-performance pathways. Additionally, the FNAG is pivotal in fostering engagement and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in netball.
Integral to its mission, the FNAG collaborates closely with NQ's RAP Working Group to ensure seamless implementation of the RAP. Moreover, the FNAG plays a pivotal role in advancing NQ's Diamond Spirit program across its core pillars of education, engagement, and empowerment.
In welcoming the new FNAG members, NQ chief executive Kate Davies expressed enthusiasm for the contributions they will make.
"We are thrilled to welcome our new FNAG members and eagerly anticipate the fresh perspectives they will bring to our ongoing journey of inclusivity and reconciliation," Davies remarked.
As NQ continues to uphold its commitment to diversity and inclusion, the expansion of the FNAG reaffirms the organisation's dedication to fostering culturally safe environments where every First Nations players, coaches, umpires and administrator feel valued, respected, and empowered within the Queensland netball community.
