Netball Queensland is passionate about transforming lives through netball. Together with our community, we celebrate diversity of sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, intersex status, ability, skill, cultural background, ethnicity, location, religious or political beliefs, and life stage. There is a place in our sport for everyone, exactly as you are.
We are committed to providing a safe, fun, and inclusive environment both on and off the court.
We know:
Being an inclusive sport not only reflects our core values, it also reflects the diversity of our local communities.
Inclusive and diverse teams are safer and more productive, because people in these teams have a greater sense of belonging, feel safer to speak up, share their ideas and different points of view, and work together to solve problems and make better decisions. Inclusive and diverse teams are more engaged because they bring multiple views, backgrounds, and experiences to the workplace, which are respected and valued by their peers and leaders.
We commit:
Netball Queensland has zero-tolerance to any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, and/or vilification. This includes (but is not limited to) homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, interphobia, racism, sexism, misogyny, xenophobia, and other forms of intolerance.
We will follow all relevant legislation and workplace regulations to protect minority groups and cultivate a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Additionally, we challenge ourselves to advance a culture that truly embraces diversity and inclusion.
One that stretches beyond minimum legal requirements and is dedicated to the continual progression of diversity and inclusion issues.
To do this we commit to:
- improving the way in which we work with First Nations Peoples through the development of our Reconciliation Action Plan and continuing to seek advice from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory committee to continue our journey towards reconciliation.
- Improving the way in which we work with people with diverse genders and sexualities through the ongoing partnership with Pride in Sport.
- working closely with our Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee to provide the appropriate cultural lens across everything we do and ensuring that we are held accountable in successfully implementing diversity agendas.
- The ongoing improvement and design of our policies and processes to reinforce diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace.
- Enhancing employee understanding on inclusion issues to encourage diversity, inclusion and equity of thought and sensitivity to differences and needs.
