Five members of Netball Australia’s Black Swans squad – Lily Cubby, Brook Lacey, Kiesha Muckan, Jayden Molo and Brianna Martyn – will feature, bringing valuable elite competition experience to the group.
Martyn is one of four new faces in the team alongside Makayla Cubby, Townsville-based Charlie Duke and Aaliyah Sheppard, with the remaining six athletes having been part of last year’s title-winning campaign.
The team will once again be led by former Australian Diamond and Queensland Firebird No.17 Sharon Finnan-White OAM, who coached the side to victory in the inaugural tournament in 2024.
Finnan-White said she was looking forward to seeing the group take the court in Melbourne.
“This is a strong and exciting group with a great mix of experience and emerging talent,” Finnan-White said.
“I can’t wait to see them take the court and represent their families and communities with pride.”
Following a successful pilot in 2024, the First Nations Tournament has become a permanent fixture on the national netball calendar, with under-23 teams from across the country set to compete at Jubilee Park Stadium in Frankston, Victoria, from 20-24 August.
