Netball Queensland is proud to announce current Chair of the Board Jane Seawright has been elected to the Netball Australia Board.
Seawright received strong support, with the Member States and Territories voting her in at today’s Netball Australia Annual General Meeting.
Seawright said she was honoured by the appointment and motivated to get to work in an unprecedented environment for national sporting bodies.
“It’s a challenging time for all national sporting bodies, but the COVID-19 crisis has hit women’s sport particularly hard,” Seawright said.
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation at a national level and to play a role in putting our sport, and all women’s sports, where they should be.”
Netball Queensland CEO, Catherine Clark, congratulated Seawright, acknowledging the appointment as reward for years of selfless and dedicated service to the game in Queensland.
"Netball Queensland has been incredibly fortunate to have had Jane's leadership for almost five years. She brings this wonderful combination of governance expertise, commercial and legal acumen, together with a deep passion and knowledge of Netball,” Clark said.
"There are not many roles in our community Jane hasn't filled at some point or another. So, she can relate to all levels in our sport and her commitment to growing our game, to securing its future has been her sole priority throughout. It is wonderful to have a leader who is so passionate, capable and visionary. "
"Our whole team will really miss her. This is an opportunity for Jane to continue her positive impact on our game and Netball Australia will benefit greatly from Jane’s community insight and courageous leadership”.
Jane leaves an incredible legacy behind at Netball Queensland, with growth across all facets of the business and the construction of the Queensland State Netball Centre (Nissan Arena).
Seawright will attend her first meeting with the Netball Australia Board this month, ending her term as a Director on the Netball Queensland Board.
Her successor on the Netball Queensland Board will be announced in due course.
