Places in the community divisions for the competition are filling fast but there’s still a chance to join what promises to be an exciting addition to the netball calendar.
Held from February 28 to March 2, 2025 at Nissan Arena, the SCNI will unite netball enthusiasts from around the country.
The Open Women’s, Men’s and Under-18 Women’s (ages 15-18) community divisions will join an elite Premier Women’s invitational division in a tournament that promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and determination in the quest to crown the best of the best.
Among those to already commit are the Pine Rivers Netball Association, who have signed up to commit in the Open Women’s division.
Coaching Officer Sarah William is encouraging others thinking of signing up to seize the opportunity.
“We’re really excited to have our Open team registered for the Sunshine Challenge Netball Invitational,” William said.
“It’s such a great opportunity for our players to be part of a high-performance netball environment while working together as a team during their pre-season for the Greater Brisbane Netball League.
“We also see it as a fantastic pathway for our players to grow, challenge themselves, and connect with the netball community. It’s the perfect way to kick off the season.
“We’d definitely encourage other teams to jump on board and not miss out - it’s shaping up to be a brilliant event."
Another to sign on is Gold Coast-based Hinterland District Netball Association, who are competing in the Under-18 Women’s division.
"HDNA are excited to be a part of the Sunshine Challenge Netball Invitational in 2025,” Association Vice-President Jodie Littleboy said.
“Our 18P State Age team will be competing and they are looking forward to a new and exciting format.
“This is wonderful preparation for their State Age event in April and with the prospect of coming up against new teams, tough competition and with the added bonus of playing indoors at Nissan Arena - we were keen to jump onboard.”
As well as the exciting opportunity on court, SCNI participants will enjoy exclusive access to a Queensland Firebirds pre-season match against a Suncorp Super Netball opponent on the Friday night - a priceless opportunity to experience elite netball up close.
