Having recently completed their time with Mainland Tactix across the Tasman, Bell and Barnett were in opposition for Sunday's clash at Nissan Arena as the Kedron-Wavell Cougars ended the ICare Group Australia Ipswich Jets' 100 per cent record this season with a 65-53 victory.
Bell, lining up for the Jets, scored 35 points for her new team including one Super Shot but it was defender Barnett who emerged victorious with the Cougars' 12-point win moving them ahead of the Jets on the HPNL Sapphire Division ladder on percentage.
Nalani Makunde was the top scorer in the contest with 50 points including 48 one-point goals and one Super Shot while Lily Cubby drained six two-pointers against her former Jets teammates.
There was plenty of drama earlier in the day at Nissan Arena when Ella Fitzgerald's late two-point shot secured Moreton Bay City Pulse a 61-all draw against the Sunshine Coast Thunder.
It's the second draw for the Thunder this season after sharing the spoils with the Carina Leagues Club Tigers back in Round 3.
The Tigers meanwhile couldn't extend their two-game winning streak as they fell 74-47 to the Gold Coast Titans, for whom Jordan Mackenzie nailed seven Super Shots on her way to 26 points from goal attack.
That win keeps the Titans fourth on the competition ladder while the Tigers remain sixth, level on points with the Pulse but trailing in percentage.
Premier Bond University Bull Sharks kept up the pressure on the top two with their sixth win of the season, defeating the winless Brisbane South Wildcats 66-56 in Round 8's other match.
The HPNL Sapphire Division continues with Round 9 featuring three midweek matches this Wednesday and the Thunder hosting the Wildcats on Sunday.
