Important COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update for the Netball Queensland Community
The highest priority for Netball Queensland is the health and wellbeing of its athletes, staff, the netball community, members, fans and stakeholders. As a result of the escalation in COVID-19 containment advice provided by the Federal Government this afternoon, and subsequent advice we have received from authorities, we have updated our risk management plan including protocols for events. We urge our netball community to consider this advice in developing and implementing local responses.
From Monday (16 March), the Government recommends all non-essential, organised mass-gatherings of 500 or more persons be cancelled until further update from federal and state government and health officials. This may impact your planned grading activities, sign on events and other netball programs. Please familiarise your Association and/or Club with the additional precautionary measures to reduce the risk of spreading the virus for events and activities with events in the interim and events with less than 500 people. As information on the spread of the virus continues to evolve each day, we will keep you informed of the status of Netball Queensland scheduled events and provide relevant advice to our netball community via our website https://qld.netball.com.au/ and via our Facebook page.
In the event, your Association or Club needs support or experiences an outbreak or exposure at one of your events, please escalate your enquiry to helpline@netballq.org.au
In the meantime, we are developing a number of resources for our Associations and Clubs to use which be available on the NQ website this evening.
This global pandemic is challenging for everyone in many ways. We appreciate your support in prioritising the health and wellbeing of our netball communities across Queensland. We are here to provide guidance where possible – please keep checking our website and Facebook page for regular updates. We are awaiting further advice from Netball Australia on national events.
The Netball Queensland Board will meet on Monday to confirm a decision on the 2020 Leaders Conference. We can confirm the Annual General Meeting will move forward and will likely be online in the event that LC20 is cancelled. Stay tuned for further updates.
