The Firebirds Futures are Netball Queensland’s senior emerging-elite representative team selected from the quality of talent on display within the HART Sapphire Series.
Aimed at building alignment with the Queensland Firebirds Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) team, the previous Queensland Sapphires brand transformed into the Firebirds Futures in 2023 and will continue to provide aspiring Queensland athletes with exciting opportunities to train and compete in a high-performance environment.
From 2022’s Queensland Sapphires team at the Australian Netball Championships, seven players – Macy Gardner, Remi Kamo, Leesa Mi Mi, Mia Stower, Hulita Veve, Charlie Bell and Ashleigh Ervin – all played in the 2023 Suncorp Super Netball campaign.
The Firebirds Futures competed against ten other teams in the Australian Netball Championships in August this year. The Firebirds Futures finished the tournament having won four of their six matches, concluding with a win in the seventh-place playoff.
